Use Love: A Display Font That Makes Your Brand Feel Like Home

Last Tuesday, I spent two hours staring at a candle label draft—my third attempt that week. The scent was perfect (bergamot + cedar), the jar was matte and elegant, but the text? It looked like it belonged on a spreadsheet, not something someone would light to unwind after a long day. That’s when I remembered Use Love: a thick-lettered, daring display font I’d bookmarked months ago but never tried. I installed it, typed “slow burn” in all caps, and—just like that—the label felt intentional, warm, and unmistakably *mine*.

Use Love isn’t subtle—and it’s not meant to be. It’s bold, confident, and full of quiet personality: wide letterforms with generous spacing, soft curves balanced by strong verticals, and just enough texture to feel handmade without sacrificing polish. It doesn’t whisper—it leans in, makes eye contact, and says, “You’re here. This matters.” As a small business owner who designs most of my own packaging, social posts, and shop graphics, I need type that works *with* me—not against me. And Use Love does exactly that.

I’ve used it across real, everyday touchpoints: on my café’s seasonal menu board (paired with a clean sans serif for body text), on thank-you cards tucked into online orders, as the hero type on Instagram story templates, and even laser-etched onto wooden gift tags for holiday bundles. It shines brightest where you want attention—on product names, shop signage, website banners, or the top line of a flyer. Because it’s a display font, it’s built for impact, not paragraphs. Think “Honey Lavender” on a skincare bottle, not the ingredient list below it.

What surprised me most was how quickly it helped tighten up my brand identity. Before Use Love, my visuals felt scattered—some days playful, some days minimalist, some days overly ornate. With this one font anchoring key moments (logo lockup, packaging headers, social highlights), everything began to feel more cohesive. Customers started commenting: “Your stuff always looks so put-together,” or “I recognize your labels from across the market.” That consistency builds trust—not because it’s flashy, but because it feels *deliberate*.

It’s also incredibly forgiving on small surfaces. I tested it on 1.5-inch sticker labels for handmade soap bars, and even at tiny sizes, the letters held their shape and charm. On mobile screens—where most of my audience sees my Instagram posts or email headers—it reads clearly without needing extra padding or drop shadows. For printed packaging, I recommend using it at 14pt minimum for short phrases (like “small batch” or “hand-poured”) and scaling up generously for titles. Just avoid cramming it into tight spaces with too much competing detail—it wants room to breathe.

Pairing Use Love is refreshingly simple. My go-to is a neutral sans serif like Inter or Montserrat for supporting text—clean, legible, and quietly confident beside its bolder counterpart. For a boutique or beauty brand, try it with a refined serif (think Playfair Display) for contrast that feels elevated but never stiff. If your vibe is cozy and personal, a gentle handwritten font works beautifully for quotes or taglines—but keep it light and airy so it doesn’t compete. The goal isn’t to match styles; it’s to let Use Love lead while other fonts support, clarify, and ground.

Before diving in, I double-checked what’s included—because nothing derails a rebrand faster than realizing your favorite font doesn’t have lowercase letters or OpenType features you need. Use Love comes with standard and alternate characters, ligatures for smoother word flow (especially helpful for words like “love” or “forever”), and supports multiple languages—including basic Latin Extended for common accents. It’s delivered in OTF and TTF formats, so it works smoothly in Canva, Adobe apps, and even free design tools. Most importantly, it’s licensed for commercial use—meaning I can use it on physical products, digital templates I sell, client work, and social ads without hesitation.

Typography might sound like a “nice-to-have” detail, but in practice, it’s one of the fastest ways to upgrade how people experience your brand—even before they taste your sourdough, smell your candle, or try your serum. First impressions happen in under three seconds, and type is often the first thing the eye lands on. Use Love gives those seconds warmth, clarity, and character. It tells people you care—not just about what you make, but how it’s shared.

Since switching to Use Love, my packaging feels more distinctive on crowded shelves. My social media stories get more saves and shares. Even my handwritten notes on order invoices look more thoughtful—because now I use the font’s stylistic alternates to create custom flourishes in my digital signatures. It’s become part of my visual vocabulary, like choosing the right apron or selecting the perfect paper stock.

If you're refreshing your brand—or building one from scratch—and want a premium font that adds instant polish without overcomplicating things, Use Love is worth trying. It’s not just another display font. It’s the kind of typeface that reminds you why you started creating in the first place: to connect, to stand out, and to share something meaningful—with love.
